Ayuda en el lugar donde vives y amas

¿Te has puesto a pensar sobre la importancia del medio que te rodea? Un grupo de jóvenes residentes de la Isla Santa Cruz participan de las actividades de limpieza de playas y comunicación.

En el Océano Pacifico, a mil kilómetros de la costa del Ecuador se encuentran las islas Galápagos, un laboratorio viviente en constante evolución. En medio de tantos procesos evolutivos y acompañados de una cultura de amor y conservación, un grupo de jóvenes residentes de la Isla Santa Cruz, participan activamente de las actividades de limpieza de playas y comunicación que realiza el Colectivo Ciudadano Frente Insular de la Reserva Marina de Galápagos.  Las mismas aportan a diversas acciones gubernamentales, comunitarias y de organismos internacionales para mantener a estas hermosas islas libres de contaminación.

El tiempo de actuar es ahora

¿Te has puesto a pensar sobre la importancia del medio que te rodea? Si nos propusiéramos como humanos arrepentidos, mirar más allá, para frenar nuestra rutina diaria, por un momento nos daríamos cuenta de la afectación de nuestras acciones, positivas y negativas, en el entorno en que habitamos. El tiempo de actuar es ahora, haciendo todo lo posible para preservar la salud de la naturaleza que nos da vida.

Jóvenes preocupados por los temas ambientales y al motivarse por las acciones ciudadanas, deciden unirse y realizar actividades extracurriculares en favor del patrimonio natural de la humanidad. Motivando a sus compañeros y profesores, solicitan la tutoría del Profesor Luis Arguello para poder realizar el acompañamiento y representación ante los padres de familia, en la formación de un grupo de estudiantes y amigos de la comunidad que deseen realizar, junto al Frente Insular. Con el apoyo decidido del Sr Rector Magister Freddy Rojas, nace el grupo Jóvenes en Acción Galápagos.

Después de mantenerse activos seis meses y con nuevos integrantes, se conformó la directiva definitiva del grupo. Johan González, galapagueño de 17 años, toma la posta de Roy Tupiza y con nuevas energías trabaja incansablemente. Al preguntarle a Johan él porque se suma y acepta el difícil reto de liderar este grupo él manifestó:

Colaboro en la conservación de la reserva marina de Galápagos, ya que le tengo un gran amor al lugar donde vivo, porque es un paraíso maravillosamente espectacular, al cual hay que cuidar y respetar. Al realizar las actividades de limpieza costera, es muy satisfactorio compartir con la naturaleza y rodearse con la increíble Flora y Fauna de estas así llamadas encantadas islas. Me gusta compartirle a la comunidad galapagueña, mediante redes sociales y programas radiales, las actividades que, como jóvenes, soñadores realizamos, y poder así ver a nuestro archipiélago libre de plásticos. Como joven y representante de este grupo, lo que más me motiva es ver a mis playas limpias, ya que quiero seguir surfeando, buceando y nadando en agua y no en plásticos.

El grupo, conformado por treinta y cinco jóvenes activos, y veinticinco que se suman a las actividades, ha realizado:

∞.- 18 mingas de limpieza en Puerto Ayora.

∞.- Elaboración de videos con mensajes de reflexión que comparten en redes, para lograr más responsabilidad ambiental.

∞.- Participación en casas abiertas y eventos, explicando el trabajo comunitario.

∞.- Creación de murales, con mensajes hacia la comunidad, bajo la tutoría del señor profesor de artes Luis Arguello.

∞.- Elaboración de spots radiales, como apoyo a las iniciativas ciudadanas que realizan cambios positivos en la producción, comercialización y ventas de productos sin plásticos desechables.

∞.- Participación voluntaria y aleatoria en locución, producción y entrevistas para el programa radial Galápagos mi responsabilidad que se trasmite todos los días Jueves.

∞.- Firma de acuerdo de compromisos con alcalde de Santa Cruz, Ángel Janes y de Isabela, Bolívar Tupiza, para la eliminación de plásticos desechables y la elaboración de ordenanzas que respalden estas iniciativas ciudadanas

∞.- Participación en limpiezas costeras en lugares lejanos. Esto se realiza con la autorización y acompañamiento de la autoridad ambiental y marítima.

∞.- Participación en foros y debates sobre temas ambientales.

∞.- Participación por el mes de la juventud galapagueña, donde fueron reconocidos públicamente en el parque San Francisco, recibiendo una placa por parte del Concejo Juvenil de Santa Cruz.

El discurso que dejo atónitos.

En el parque principal de la Isla y frente a las autoridades manifestaron públicamente su enojo por todo lo relacionado a este problema mundial. Fue dentro del contexto de la HUELGA POR EL CLIMA, de alcance internacional. Lo fantástico de este grupo de jóvenes, aparte de su alegría y energía, son los mensajes impactantes que comparten a las autoridades y comunidad.

Jóvenes en Acción del colectivo Frente Insular participaron en la marcha HUELGA POR EL CLIMA.

Algunos mensajes del discurso manifestado por los protagonistas:

“Nadie puede hacerlo todo pero todos podemos hacer algo”. Clara Garzón

“Agradezco a los jóvenes por el liderazgo y a los adultos responsables, por intentar resolver junto a nosotros este gran problema mundial”. Joselyn Tubon

Los jóvenes manifestaron que “tal vez los adultos nos menosprecien al creer que no entendemos mucho sobre este tema. Pero se equivocan, lo entendemos tal vez más porque lo vivimos día a día. Al salir como voluntarios a limpiezas costeras y en nuestra comunidad, lo vivimos y la verdad nos indigna, nos espanta heredar tanta contaminación”.

Ellos entienden que “el cambio climático se mueve más deprisa de lo que nosotros actuamos. Lo que nos están heredando es enfermedad y muerte.La urgencia es tal que, si no cambiamos el rumbo inmediatamente, corremos el riesgo de perder la oportunidad de evitar que el cambio climático sea incontrolable, con consecuencias aún más desastrosas de la que ya vivimos, para los seres humanos y todos los ecosistemas que nos sostienen”.

Para finalizar compartieron estadísticas para que puedan, más que reflexionar, actuar:

  • En las dos últimas décadas se han producido los 18 años más cálidos registrados desde 1850 y este año se perfila ya como el cuarto más caliente.
  • El hielo marino ártico está desapareciendo más rápido de lo que imaginamos.
  • Este año, por primera vez, el espeso y permanente hielo marino al norte de Groenlandia comenzó a resquebrajarse.
  •  Los océanos se vuelven más ácidos y amenazan la base de las cadenas alimentarias que sostienen la vida.
  • Los corales están muriendo en grandes cantidades, agotando aún más las pesquerías vitales.

Cerrando el discurso manifestaron deseos de paz e invitaron a que no se los cuestione de exagerados sino de realistas. Además, dejaron un mensaje alertando sobre las consecuencias del cambio climático si no se toman acciones resolutivas:

“Con el simple hecho de estar aquí y ahora, demostramos que estamos unidos y que los jóvenes somos imparables. Los jóvenes somos la esperanza del futuro de la raza humana. Muchas veces escuchamos que nuestra generación deberá resolver los problemas creados por los gobernantes actuales, pero no esperaremos pasivamente. Llegó la hora de que seamos los líderes. El tiempo de actuar es ahora”.
